Thanks!!”

I figured instead of trying to answer each person individually, it would be good to finally get a blog post up with all the resources in once place.

I grew up in an age, as I’m sure many of you did, where sexuality was very hush hush. We don’t talk about it. And while, I don’t like the idea of chatting about sexuality freely to anyone and everyone, I feel very strongly that it should be an open conversation between parent and child. Sexuality and all that goes along with it, especially in the confines of marriage, is a BEAUTIFUL gift from God, and as parents, we have the responsibility of giving our children a healthy view of their bodies as well as an understanding of the beauty of their femininity and masculinity. Be the safe place for ALL of your children’s uncomfortable questions.

In our world today, it does seem that conversation around sexuality happens earlier and earlier. I shudder at the information some very young children know. Let kids be kids! We are forcing them into an adult world that honestly limits the carefree years of childhood. However, knowing the trends of our culture, knowing that homosexuality, trans genderism, feminism and other unbiblical sexual agendas are going to be put in front of their faces no matter how much we try to protect them, it is important to start the conversation early and continue that conversation throughout all their years in our homes.

Having said that, here are a few resources for moms who have girls who are facing adolescence and the whirlwind of emotions and changes in their bodies. We are just getting into this stage, so I’m going through this book by myself right now and picking out what she’s ready for. This will be a resource we’ll be going through slowly for the next several years. I have a highlight saved on my Instagram page that gives you a good look at the inside. Sometimes this book is available used on Amazon or Thriftbooks, otherwise you can find it new at Purity Plan Ministries. (Scroll down the page to find it.)

Beautiful Girlhood: Another I’d recommend is Beautiful Girlhood: a timeless guide for Christian Adolescence by Mabel Hale revised by Karen Andreola. You can sometimes find this used on Amazon, but also check Thriftbooks. The original (unrevised) by Mabel Hale can also be found on Amazon, but I’m not sure how it differs from Karen Andreola’s revised version. DON’T FLIP OUT when they ask you something uncomfortable. And DON’T AVOID CONVERSATION OR PUSH THEM AWAY EITHER! Answer your child’s questions as best as possible giving them age appropriate information. But DO TALK about it. Our world is so sexualized, and your kids WILL see and hear things you’d rather protect them from. So YOU tell them FIRST while you can screen the input and give them a healthy beautiful view of womanhood and sex. I love @birds__bees for ideas about answering kids questions in age appropriate ways. They also have a podcast, but don’t have new episodes too often. Their most popular resource they have available for purchase is a online course you can take about this topic.
